From Empty Flat to Handover Keys
Our Complete 4-Step Interior Process
If your interior designer can't explain exactly what happens in Week 1, Week 4, and Week 8 — be careful. A disorganized designer burns your money before they save it. This is our transparent, milestone-tracked process that we follow on every project, without exception.
Why a Process Matters (More Than You Think)
Interior design is 30% creativity and 70% project management. Most project delays in Mumbai aren't because of design — they're because nobody agreed on who does what, when. A clear process prevents that. It also means you, as a homeowner, always know what's happening and what's coming next.
Here's exactly how we take your home from an empty flat to keys-in-hand.
Step 01 — Design Consultation (Free)
Duration: 1 week
We start by understanding you — not just your flat. We ask questions like: How do you actually use your kitchen? Do you work from home? Do you have kids? Do you entertain guests often? What does "luxury" mean to you personally? The same 3 BHK can become five completely different homes depending on who lives there.
By the end of Step 1, you will have:
- A documented brief of your requirements, lifestyle, and design preferences
- Site measurement and condition assessment
- Initial mood board and design direction
- A preliminary BOQ (Bill of Quantities) — a transparent, line-by-line budget
- 3D visualization of key rooms (yes, before you sign anything)
The consultation itself is completely free. No obligation, no pressure. Many clients use this step just to get clarity, even if they're evaluating multiple firms.
Step 02 — Procurement & Planning
Duration: 2-3 weeks
Once you approve the design and budget, we move into procurement. This is where most interior projects quietly fail — not because of bad design, but because materials didn't arrive on time.
We handle this step like a military operation:
- Vendor selection from our trusted network of material partners (Asian Paints, Jaquar, Hettich, Häfele, Kajaria, and more)
- Material samples delivered to your home for final approvals
- Master schedule — every material, every delivery date, locked down
- MEP drawings finalized (electrical, plumbing, HVAC — see our MEP guide)
- Milestone payment plan agreed and signed
Why this matters: If marble arrives late, tiling work stops. If tiling stops, painting can't happen. One delay becomes a chain. We prevent that chain by planning procurement before execution begins — not during.
Step 03 — Execution on Site
Duration: 45 to 90 days (depends on flat size)
This is where the work actually happens. For a typical Mumbai/Thane flat:
- 2 BHK: 45-60 days
- 3 BHK: 60-90 days
- Larger homes / full villas: 90-120 days
Execution happens in a strict sequence:
- Civil work and demolition (if required)
- MEP rough-in — wiring, plumbing, AC copper lines
- False ceiling, plaster, and wall preparation
- Tiling and flooring
- Painting (primer + 2 coats, premium finishes)
- Modular kitchen and wardrobe installation
- Electrical final fittings, lighting, switches
- Furniture and decor
- Final cleaning, snagging, QC
Throughout this phase you'll receive:
- Weekly site photos sent to you on WhatsApp
- Weekly progress review call with your project manager
- Real-time issue escalation — anything unexpected, you know within 24 hours
- Hidden-work photos — concealed pipes, wiring, bracketing — before it all gets covered up
Step 04 — Handover & Support
Duration: 1 week
We don't just hand over keys and disappear. In the final week:
- Snag list creation — you walk through every room, flag every tiny issue, we fix everything
- QC inspection by our chief engineer before your walkthrough
- User manual for all modular hardware, appliances, AC units, and light controls
- Maintenance guide for every finish — how to clean marble, how to care for veneers, etc.
- Warranty documentation for all brand-covered items
- Post-handover support — we remain available for 6 months for any concerns
Our 3-month check-in: 90 days after handover, we revisit your home to check settling issues, hardware adjustments, or anything that needs touch-up. Most firms don't do this. We do.
What This Process Costs You vs. Saves You
A structured process looks like "overhead" when you're comparing quotes. But a disorganized project costs you:
- 4-8 weeks of delay (your rent or your family's inconvenience)
- 10-20% budget overrun in emergency rework
- Your personal time managing between contractors
A structured process pays for itself every single time. Your only job is showing up for the fun decisions — fabrics, finishes, final touches. The heavy lifting is ours.
Final Word
Interior design is one of the most personal, expensive, and stressful things you'll do in a decade. You deserve transparency, milestones, and someone accountable. Every process we follow is built on the same principle: you should know what's happening at every stage, before it happens.
